Effingham resident Bryan K. Jones has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to a count of residential arson.
The 27-year-old Jones admitted to setting curtains on fire in a house along Fayette Avenue shared by his former girlfriend and her boyfriend and their infant as well as another adult last November. None of the occupants were home at the time of the incident.
Jones could have received up to 15 years in prison had he been found guilty at trial. He is also serving a three-year prison term for violating his probation for domestic battery.
