A local woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for forgery.

27-year-old Rachael Stephens of Effingham pleaded guilty to issuing or delivering a document. A count of theft was dismissed as part of the negotiated plea.

In addition to the prison term, Stephens was placed on two years probation, and will serve one year mandatory supervised release once out of prison.

A count of possession of methamphetamine from a separate incident was also dismissed.
