Mt. Vernon Woman Killed in Marion County Crash

A Mt. Vernon woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Marion County.
74-year-old Carolyn Marlow was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash, which occurred at 7:49am on Illinois Route 161 near Marion County Road 600 East.
State police report a car driven by 56-year-old John Hermeling of Centralia crossed the centerline of Route 161 and collided head-on with a car driven by 79-year-old Logan Marlow of Mt. Vernon.
Both drivers were injured and were taken for treatment of what were termed non-life threatening injuries.
Hermeling was cited for improper lane usage.
