TRIO Destination College will be hosting a virtual open house via Google Meets to share the benefits of being a part of a college and career readiness program. TRIO Destination College is funded by the United States Department of Education to serve high schools and middle schools in Brownstown, Casey-Westfield, Cowden-Herrick, Mattoon, Pana, Paris, Ramsey and St. Elmo. TRIO DC strives to guide students to be successful in school, while working to reach their college goals.

The group will host the open house Sept. 15 as an opportunity for students and parents to learn about the services TRIO DC offers and how to join.

TRIO Destination College offers assistance with tutoring, study skills, financial literacy, college and career exploration and financial aid. The group holds virtual club meetings for high school and junior high students, as well as monthly events for seniors to help them prepare for college. Students will also have the opportunity to attend program sponsored college visits, as well as receive individual assistance in completing college and financial aid applications.

“We are here to help students create a success plan to help them identify and pursue the college goals of their choice,” Alicia Gullidge, TRIO outreach advisor/mentor, said. “The students give us a dream and we turn that into a goal so they can make it into a reality. We’re just laying the bricks in their pathways.”
