Altamont Woman Dies from Injuries Suffered in Thursday Crash

The Altamont woman who was injured in a crash west of Effingham Thursday evening has died from those injuries.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes Saturday said Sangamon County officials reported that 32-year-old Amiee Lowry died of her injuries at 11:30 Friday morning at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Lowry was airlifted from the scene of the crash to St. John's. 

Lowry was traveling on US Route 40 at Country Club Road when the truck left the highway to the right. The vehicle went airborne across Country Club Road and landed in the ditch. As the truck landed, it struck a tree, spun sideways, and came to rest on its wheels.
