Effingham Noon Rotary Club members Wednesday were updated on development of a public transportation network in Effingham County.
Jennifer Moore, who serves as Mobility Manager for Central Illinois Public Transit, said that public transportation is available and options for movement from one location to another will continue to increase.
The Effingham County Board chose to designate CIPT as the public transportation agency for the county. CIPT has since contracted with Rides Mass Transit, also operating in the county, to expand the transportation offerings available.
Among the offerings is a trip from the Kluthe Center to the Lake Land College campus and back three times each weekday. Monthly passes are available, which are a cost savings to the patrons and guarantees CIPT a certain level of income.
Rotary Weekly Program Chairman Norma Lansing introduced Moore.
The Rotary weekly student guest was Aleese Kinney, daughter of Scott and Kristi Kinney and a senior at Effingham High School.
