More COVID-19 mitigation efforts are being implemented for the Metro East.

The State will now close indoor dining service for bars and restaurants. Governor J.B. Pritzker said last week that it was clear the area was trending in the wrong direction, but he gave local officials the benefit of a doubt allowing them to try a round of less stringent mitigation efforts. Pritzker said, "That has not worked."

The Metro East's daily positivity rate has climbed to more than 9.5%. The next 14 days will either bring the region another round of lockdown efforts, or a relaxing of recently implemented rules.
