Preliminary investigative details from the Illinois State Police indicate Friday at 8:30 P.M. an officer from the Farina Police Department attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation on Interstate 57, near exit 135. The car failed to stop and fled from Farina PD. While fleeing from police the car traveled northbound on Illinois Highway 185 near Fayette County 1150 North at a high rate of speed when it lost control negotiating a curve. The car left the roadway to the right and overturned.
Two occupants of the car were ejected. All three occupants were airlifted from the scene with non-life-threatening injuries.
Those in the car included a 15-year-old male from Effingham, Kanen Finke, a 19 of Effingham, and Robert Lowrance, 18 of Teutopolis. At this point, it is unclear who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit (TCRU) responded to assist in the investigation which remains open as charges remain pending at this time.
