Injuries resulted from a two-vehicle collision during the noon hour Sunday in rural Shelby County.

The crash happened at 12:15pm on Illinois Route 32 at Shelby County Road 700 North.

Shelby County sheriff's deputies reported a semi driven by 30-year-old Michael Dixon of Oakland Park, Florida was westbound on 700 North while a car driven by 39-year-old Douglas Martz of Shelbyville was northbound on Route 32. Deputies say Dixon failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and traveled onto the highway. Martz's car struck the trailer of the semi, causing Martz's car to spin off the roadway into a field.

A passenger in Martz's vehicle, 37-year-old Adam Bly of Shelbyville, had to be extricated from the car. Martz and Bly were both transported by ambulance to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana for treatment of injuries. Dixon was not injured.

Dixon was cited for disobeying a stop sign and failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

Agencies assisting the Shelby County Sheriff's Department included the Strasburg Fire Department, Stewardson Fire Department, Windsor Fire Department, Stewardson Ambulance Service, Windsor Ambulance Service, Shelby County Rescue Squad and the Illinois State Police.
