Fire Damages Motor Home Near St. Elmo Wednesday

Fire damaged a motor home near St. Elmo Wednesday.

Altamont Fire Chief Jon Becker said the motor home was on the property of John Kuebler, located north and east of St. Elmo. St. Elmo and Altamont firefighters were called to the scene about 12:40pm. Becker said Kuebler was attempting to move the motor home away from an outbuilding to gain access to the structure and noticed the vehicle was smoking. 

Shumway and Brownstown firefighters were also called to the scene to assist. No one was injured, but there was considerable damage to the vehicle. 

Becker said Altamont firefighters were also called to a motor vehicle accident Thursday morning north of Altamont. Becker said a vehicle ran off the road and overturned in a ditch. 

One person was airlifted from the scene to be taken for treatment of injuries. We will get additional information on the crash.
