One Person Dead After Shooting in Fayette County

A man is dead following a shooting incident in Fayette County.

Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris was called to the scene of the shooting, which occurred in St. Elmo late Friday afternoon. Harris said a 52-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. The man's name has not been released.

An autopsy will be performed Monday at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. 

Harris said the incident is being investigated by the St. Elmo Police Department, Illinois State Police, Fayette County Sheriff's Department, and the Fayette County Coroner's Office. No additional information is being released at this time.
