Two Iuka Residents Injured in Motorcycle Crash in Fayette County

Two Iuka residents were injured in a motorcycle crash in Fayette County Saturday night.

State police report 34-year-old Thomas Gordon was traveling west on I-70 near the Vandalia interchange at 8:05pm. Gordon told authorities a deer ran into the roadway and he was unable to avoid hitting it. The impact caused the motorcycle to lay down, with both Gordon and his passenger, 45-year-old Athena Gordon, ejected and ending up on the roadway.

Thomas Gordon was first taken to a local hospital, then was airlifted to a regional hospital for further treatment. Athena Gordon was airlifted to a regional hospital. Police termed the injuries of both people non-life threatening.

Westbound I-70 in the Vandalia area was closed for about an hour during the crash investigation.
