Fatal Crash 2020

A Pennsylvania man was killed in a semi crash outside of Effingham Sunday afternoon.

Illinois State Police report 66-year-old Richard Dreher of Colmar, Pennsylvania, was traveling south on I-57 near the south tri-level at 1:30pm. For unknown reasons, the semi driven by Dreher left the roadway to the left and struck a construction sign. The rig then came back across all three southbound lanes and left the roadway to the right, coming to rest upright in the right ditch.

Dreher was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham where he was pronounced dead. Police say Dreher may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.

The crash is still being investigated. A previous release from state police listed Dreher as a resident of Brownstown.
