One Killed, One Injured in Crash Sunday in Fayette County

One person was killed and another was injured in a crash Sunday afternoon in Fayette County.

Illinois State Police report 75-year-old Bud Prater of Vandalia was killed just after 1pm when the vehicle he was driving ran off Main Street, a quarter-mile west of Fayette County Road 600 East. The vehicle overturned and came to rest in a creek bed.

Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris pronounced Prater dead at the scene of the crash. A passenger in the vehicle, 52-year-old Patricia Bales of Vandalia, was injured and was taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia for treatment of what were termed minor injuries.
