A press conference is set for Monday to speak against clemency and parole for the men convicted of the murder of Illinois State Trooper Layton Davis.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler, State Representatives Blaine Wilhour and Darren Bailey, and the family of Trooper Davis are all scheduled to participate in the event, set to begin at 1pm at the Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum. The facility formerly served as the Effingham County Courthouse and was the scene of the trial during which Aaron Hyche and James Taylor were convicted of Trooper Davis' murder.

Trooper Davis, an Effingham County resident, was shot and killed during a traffic stop along I-57 at the Green Creek Rest Area, north of Effingham on March 18, 1976.
