Coles County is one of 13 counties in Illinois at a warning level for novel coronavirus disease. A county enters a warning level when two or more COVID-19 risk indicators that measure the amount of COVID-19 increase.

The indicators include new cases, number of deaths, weekly test positivity, ICU availability, weekly emergency department visits, weekly hospital admissions, tests performed, and clusters

The metrics are updated weekly, from the Sunday-Saturday of the prior week.

Coles County Health Department is reporting 21 new cases of coronavirus disease Friday, bringing the total positive cases in the county to 469.

Shelby County Health Department is reporting two new positive cases, a 57-year-old female and a 58-year-old female. Both individuals are reporting mild symptoms. Shelby County is now at 76 positive cases.

After knocking on the door Thursday, the total of new coronavirus disease cases in the state topped 2,000 Friday. The statewide positivity rate for the week ending August 6 is 4.1%.
