A teenager was injured in a crash just west of Effingham on Fayette Road Thursday night.
The call came at 8:23pm when vehicles driven by 38-year-old Amanda Youngblood and 42-year-old Elizabeth Fitzgerald, both of Effingham, collided. The collision occurred after Youngblood lost control of her car and entered the path of Fitzgerald's vehicle. The units collided head-on.
A passenger in Fitzgerald's vehicle, 13-year-old Yamiri Yost of Edgewood, was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.
Effingham County Sheriff's Department cited Youngblood for DUI alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, and failure to remain in her lane of travel.
