As the controversy surrounding Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan continues to brew, the Speaker Friday said he has no plans to resign his leadership position.

Madigan is under investigation by federal authorities, who laid out a bribery scheme involving utility ComEd, accused of sending $1.3 million to associates of Madigan for doing little or no work.

Madigan took to the phones Friday, attempting to gauge support, or the lack thereof, as he attempts to remain in office.

Six Illinois Democrats have joined ranks with a majority of Illinois Republicans calling for the Speaker to resign.

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and other Democrats have said that Madigan should resign if he's indicted.

Madigan has not been charged with any crime and has denied any wrongdoing.
