An Effingham man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to burglary.

25-year-old Jacob D. Beck pleaded guilty to a Class 3 felony burglary count. A Count 2 felony burglary count was dismissed as part of the plea.

Beck was arrested in April after police were called that someone was in a local resident's vehicle. City police with a K9 unit located Beck. Authorities said that Beck was found to have been in multiple vehicles in multiple locations. He originally had been arrested on five counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, as well as the more serious burglary count, possession of stolen property, criminal damage to property, and obstructing or resisting a peace officer.

Beck will serve one year of mandatory supervised release once out of prison, and will have to make more than $1,800 in restitution.
