Cumberland school board members heard at this month's meeting from Olivia Ross and Tachel Brown about ideas to promote anti-racism. Ross and Brown graduated from Cumberland High School in 2016.

The ladies spoke about what they've done to better understand ways to help foster the discussion and ideas for donations and funding to support the effort in district schools.

Cumberland Board President Bob Blade thanked Ross and Brown and said their presentation gave all present something to think about.

Also, Cumberland Superintendent Todd Butler thanked everyone who has helped work on a district school reopening plan. The Board then endorsed the plan and the school calendar for the coming year.

The Board purchased employee health care insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield, and purchased a used school bus. Also approved was a boys and girls cross country co-op with Neoga and Stew-Stras with Wes Chambers voting No.

Cumberland board members accepted the irrevocable letter of retirement from Laura Light, agreed to post the position of third shift custodian, and agreed to request applicants for substitute bus drivers, substitute custodians, and substitute teachers.
