Three people on a people mover were injured Thursday afternoon when the vehicle collided with a car.

The crash happened at 1:45pm on US Route 40 near Keptown.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports the unit driven by 41-year-old Margaret Sporleder of Vandalia was stopped in traffic, waiting to turn into a driveway, when the car driven by 18-year-old Chase Evans of Altamont, hit the people mover from behind.

The three people injured are 69-year-old Billy Norris of Effingham, 68-year-old Joyce Mesnard of Effingham, and 55-year-old Tamara Klepzig of Altamont. Deputies report Norris was treated at the scene, but Mesnard and Klepzig were both taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Evans was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
