Local St. Rep. Blaine Wilhour is seeking an emergency session of the Illinois General Assembly to consider his proposed ethics legislation.
Wilhour has introduced the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act, the Lobbyist Registration Act, and the Illinois Government Ethics Act. His remarks come in the wake of Friday's reports that Elected Officlal A in the influence scheme involving Commonwealth Edison and lobbyists is House Speaker Michael Madigan.
Wilhour said, "I have talked about the corruption tax on Illinois residents my entire time in the General Assembly and this corruption tax is too high for use to keep paying."
Media reports Friday indicated ComEd has steered jobs, contracts and payments to people connected to Public Official A. Madigan has not been charged with wrongdoing.
