Superintendent Kerry Herdes spoke with the South Central Board of Education at Wednesday night's meeting about the Governor's revised regions in the Restore Illinois plan. The plan was announced earlier Wednesday, and more information is available on the local news page of our website.

Herdes said the revised regions are better than just four regions in the earlier version and "would give South Central the best potential to stay open for the entire 2020-2021 school year."

In personnel moves, the South Central board hired a band teacher, Andrew Steininger, and also hired Curt Jones for another season as high school boys baseball coach and Courtney Kiman as middle school volleyball coach for the coming school year.

Volunteer assistant coaches were also approved; Stephen Robb for middle school baseball and high school basketball; Logan Lotz for high school basketball; Trevor Markley for middle school basketball; Justin Dodson for middle school baseball; and Courtney Kiman for high school volleyball.

The Board also approved a loan of education funds to the operations and maintenance fund, and awarded bids for milk, food and bakery items.
