Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle collision just after 4pm Thursday in Jackson Township.

Effingham County Sheriff's Deputies report the crash happened on US Route 40 at 640th Street in the Dexter community. Deputies say 77-year-old Edith Higgs of Altamont was stopped in traffic, attempting to turn, when her vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Bradley Myers of Altamont.

Higgs and Myers were both transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Myers was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
