Clay County Fair Canceled for 2020

Another area county fair has called things off for this year.

The Clay County Fair board has decided to cancel its 2020 fair.

When COVID-19 began taking its toll, the fair board announced it was going to host a modified version of the fair, which was going to include some junior livestock shows. Now that state regulations are restricting the number of those who can gather to 50 or fewer, the fair board decided to completely cancel this year's fair.

When the Illinois State Fair and DuQuoin State Fair were canceled, issues regarding insurance and legal coverage for the fair, as well as all volunteers and attendees, no carnivals being able to operate in Illinois to date, and other factors limiting the possibility of a real fair experience, the fair board decided to call off this year's fair in Clay County.
