The State of Illinois is entering Phase 4 of the COVID-19 pandemic response on June 26th, and the Effingham County Jail will begin a modified jail visitation procedure on Tuesday, June 30th, 2020. Sheriff Dave Mahon said they realize the importance of inmate visitation in order for the people incarcerated in the jail to maintain a close connection with their families.

Below are the modified rules for Visitation:

--Male inmate visitation on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1p-4p

--Female inmate visitation on Tuesdays from 10a-12p

--Inmates will be allowed two 15-minute visits per week.

--All visits will be scheduled in advance (for example, John Doe here 07/14/20 at 1:00P till 1:15P) by calling the Jail at 217/342-3866 Monday through Friday from 7A-3P to schedule a visit

--All previous Visitation rules apply, regarding a valid photo ID, and proper attire — no tank tops and only long pants.

--Only the scheduled visitors will be allowed inside the lobby/waiting area.

--Masks are preferred while inside the County building.

--Inmates that are still undergoing the Jail's 14-day quarantine, will not be permitted to visit until they have been symptom-free and cleared from the quarantine process

Visitors are asked to please abide by the Jail's COVID-19 screenings. If you have, or have had any of the following symptoms, please do not schedule a visit. If you have, or have had, fever of 100.4 degrees or greater, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, been in contact with anyone suspected of having COVID-19 or have traveled outside of the country within the past 10 days, please do not schedule a visit.
