A Robinson man was injured when his car rear-ended a semi Tuesday afternoon in Richland County.

Illinois State Police report 27-year-old Tyler Tennyson was injured on US Route 50 at 1:21pm. Tennyson's car was following a semi traveling eastbound when the semi driver began slowing his rig to make a right-hand turn. Tennyson's car then struck the back of the semi driven by 63-year-old Tony Biagi of Centralia.

Tennyson was airlifted from the scene to an area hospital with what authorities termed life-threatening injuries. Biagi was not injured.

Tennyson was cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

US Route 50 was closed for about a half-hour during the crash investigation.
