Busy Meeting Monday Night for Brownstown School Board

Brownstown school board members took action on a number of items at Monday's monthly meeting.

The Board authorized payment of building operational costs from both the Education Fund and the Building Operations and Maintenance Fund; appointed Steve Waltrip as the designated person for asbestos management; retained Miller, Tracy, Braun, Funk and Guenther for legal counsel; and approved a library service agreement with ILLININET.

Board members approved an agreement with the Vandalia ED/BD Program; okayed an agreement with Eastern Illinois University for student teaching and clinical experience; approved the fiscal year consolidated district plan; and awarded bread and milk bids.

The Board awarded Ramza Insurance Group for property/casualty insurance coverage and for State National as District workers compensation insurance carrier; approved a contract with bookkeeper/treasurer at Brownstown for the coming school year; okayed administrator salaries for the coming; approved a memorandum of understanding addendum with the Brownstown Education Association; and approved a contract with Stacy Gibson for speech services.

The Brownstown board employed Beth Gibson as high school Special Education teacher for the coming school year, and accepted the resignation of Lori Mette from that position. The Board also adopted an amended budget for the past school year.
