Most of the demolition work has been completed at Teutopolis High School, and renovation work is getting started.

After years of discussion and debate, the school board voted to tear down the 1929 and 1949 portions of the building. Other work involves converting the shop area into a band room, and some additional classroom space. Work will also include new restroom, locker room and weight room areas joining J.H. Griffin Gym to the west. A breezeway will be built to connect the gym area to the newer construction to the west, which includes the high school offices and the media center along with classrooms.

Tuesday was a good photo-taking day, so a journey to T-Town was in order.

This first photo is of the west side of the gym, where the weight room will be located. The old weight room was on the second floor and the floor there was bearing the brunt of many weights landing there once a workout session was finished. It was especially a problem since the area had not been designed as a weight room.

The second photo shows some of the area still being demolished remaining in front of the former Shop area, which will be converted to the band room.
