546 new cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois were reported by the Department of Public Health Wednesday. 87 additional confirmed deaths were reported, 50 of those deaths in Cook County.

State records are showing a ninth positive COVID-19 case in Effingham County, but Karen Feldkamp of the Effingham County Health Department said that is inaccurate; that a lab reported a case as having been from Effingham County when it was not. Feldkamp said Effingham County was at eight positive cases until the announcement of three new cases Wednesday evening.

Coles County is now reporting 146 positive cases. Other area county case counts remain unchanged.

The preliminary seven-day statewide posivity is still at 3%.
