No agreement has been reached yet on repairs to be undertaken by the new owners of Village Square Mall.

Some work had taken place at the Mall, but there is disagreement over what work Durga Property Holdings should undertake, particularly regarding the roof.

The Court ruled in January that conditions at the Mall were such that the City of Effingham was granted permission to hire someone to make repairs. In the meantime, Durga Property Holdings acquired the Mall and took a more active role in the court proceedings than had the previous Mall owner.

Some repairs at the Mall got underway, but came to a halt due to a disagreement over the scope of work on the roof.

During a telephone conference call Thursday morning, Judge James Eder directed that each side has the option of seeking modification of the January ruling with a filing deadline of June 25. Both sides are then directed to file a response by July 9. Another conference call has been scheduled for July 15 to gauge whether any progress has been made.
