Authorities say no foul play is suspected in the death of an Altamont woman.

The woman was identified as 66-year-old Wilma Ousley. The Effingham County Sheriff's Department responded to a residence in rural Atamont just before 8am Wednesday regarding a welfare check on an individual who failed to answer the phone. Officers found Ousley in the residence. The Effingham County Coroner's Office was contacted, and Deputy Coroners Karen Hoene and Rick Manford responded to the scene.

Again, the initial investigation indicated there is no foul play involved. The death appears to be due to natural causes. Medical records were requested for further investigation.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Department's detective section, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, and Altamont Fire Department assisted the Coroner's Office in the investigation, which continues.
