When we think of Appalachian storytelling, we tend to think of Jack's tales and stalwart heroes like Wicked John, but the mountains have their feisty heroines, too.
Grandmother Tales is a celebration of two of these free spirits; Mutsmag and Ashpet. Grandmother, who gathers her younguns with a song and a guitar, narrates in the best story theatre tradition. She invites her listeners to take roles as undertakers, ugly sisters, trees, horses and even a fireplace.
Performances are this Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9, at 7pm. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the St. Anthony High School office or at the door.
Cast members include Rachel Beals, Libby Brandt, Laura Deters, Erin Goeckner, Natalie Goeckner, Tierney Hammer, Nardeen Kaldas, Gus Koester, Chloe Malone and Dawn McGuire.
