The Missouri couple in custody for holding up a bank in Altamont have now been charged with a similar offense earlier in February in Alton.
37-year-old Altonio Graves of Florissant, Missouri and 26-year-old Annalise McGhee of St. Louis were each arrested on counts of financial institution robbery and aggravated robbery, both Class 1 felonies, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Bond for each was set at $500,000.
Lt. Scott Golike, chief of detectives for the Alton Police Department, said the defendants were identified as suspects in the Laclede robbery after their arrests last week in Effingham County.
The Madison County charges allege Graves verbally indicated to a teller that he had a firearm and then took almost $5,700 by threatening the imminent use of force.
Following the Alton Robbery, Golike said Alton detective Marcos Pulido sent information about the incident and the robber to other law enforcement agencies across the state, as well as the FBI.
Golike said once the robbery in Effingham County occurred, one of the troopers compared notes and saw that it was similar to the Alton incident.
Pulido traveled to Effingham County last week to interview Graves and McGhee.
