Local Death Believed Due to Natural Causes

The death of a local man is believed due to natural causes.

Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey was called to a residence in Effingham at the request of the Effingham Police Department.  A neighbor found 56-year-old Dickie Kelly unresponsive in the residence and phoned police. 

Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene.  Preliminary results of an autopsy conducted Tuesday indicate that Kelly likely died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected.  Final autopsy and toxicology results are pending.

The investigation continues by the Coroner's office and the Effingham Police Department.
