IDPH Announces 797 New COVID-19 Cases

797 new positive cases of COVID-19 were announced in Illinois Tuesday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health said 95 additional confirmed deaths were reported, 51 in Cook County. There were 12 deaths reported in Lake County.

Within the 24-hour period ending at 2pm Tuesday, laboratories have reported 20,309 specimens. The seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total tests is 4%.

Coles County is reporting its 140th positive COVID-19 case. The county has reported 17 deaths related to COVID-19. 

Here are the numbers for Effingham and area counties:

Effingham County--eight positive cases, with one death

Shelby County--16 cases, with one death

Cumberland County--10 cases, no deaths

Jasper County--46 cases, with seven deaths

Clay County--two cases, no deaths

Fayette County--21 cases, with three deaths
