Five people were injured during the noon hour Monday in a three-vehicle crash in Teutopolis.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports the crash occurred at 12:18pm at the intersection of Main Street, or Route 40, and Race Street.

Deputies report a vehicle driven by 70-year-old Donald Wesselman of Teutopolis was attempting to cross Main Street while a vehicle driven by 68-year-old Patricia Nave of Martinsville was traveling west on Main and a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Joseph Siemer of Teutopolis was stopped on Race Street at Main. Wesselman entered the intersection and collided with Nave's vehicle. The force of the collision pushed Nave's vehicle into the Siemer vehicle.

Wesselman and Nave were both injured, as were three passengers in the Nave vehicle; 72-year-old Douglas Nave, 11-year-old Cathryn Nave and five-year-old Oscar Nave, all of Martinsville. Wesselman refused treatment, while the four people in the Nave vehicle were all transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Siemer was not injured.

No citations were issued.
