1,111 new cases of coronavirus disease were reported Wednesday by the Illinois Department of Public Health. That's the lowest daily total since early April.

However, 160 additional deaths were reported, after two days of deaths in the 30s. 102 of the deaths were attributed to Cook County. Three of those deaths occurred in Coles County, which we reported Tuesday. They included a female in her 80s, a male in his 80s, and a female more than 100 years old, and were all residents of Charleston Rehab and Healthcare.

More than 17,000 tests have been received in the 24-hour period ending at 2pm Wednesday.

The number of COVID-19 related deaths surpassed 5,000 in Illinois as of Wednesday.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity over the past week is 8.6%.
