Details on Crash West of Altamont Tuesday Afternoon

Details are in on a crash west of Altamont Tuesday afternoon that blocked westbound I-70.

The crash happened at 1:58pm one mile west of Altamont. The driver of a semi, 37-year-old Son Qvach of Odessa, Texas, told state police he was traveling west when he applied the brakes on his rig and the trailer brakes locked up, causing the semi to jackknife, blocking both westbound lanes of the interstate.

Qvach complained of back pain, so was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he was treated, then released.

The westbound lanes of I-70 were closed for approximately one hour during the crash investigation.

Qvach was cited for improper lane usage.
