Positive Cases Down Wednesday, Deaths Up Though

The Illinois Department of Public Health Wednesday announced 1,677 new cases of coronavirus disease in the state. 192 additional deaths were reported. 140 of those deaths were attributed to Cook County.

We mentioned the death reported in Jasper County in a separate story on the website. Coles County is now reporting 62 positive cases following an outbreak at a care facility in Charleston. We have details on that, as well, in a separate story.

Cumberland County reported a seventh positive case.

Edwards County reported its first positive case, bringing to 99 the number of the state's 102 counties to report a positive case.

IDPH is reporting a total of 84,698 cases, including 3,792 deaths, in Illinois.
