The Effingham County Board will consider an increase in the county coroner salary at Monday's regular monthly meeting.
The coroner salary in Effingham County is currently $36,000. Committee members voted to recommend an increase to $45,000 and then a $2,000 increase in each of the final three years of the coming term that will begin December 1. The salary must be set at least six months before the new term begins.
Committee members were provided numbers by Coroner Kim Rhodes on salaries in comparable counties, but Rhodes did not make a request as to the amount of the salary.
