Possible Scam Phone Call in Effingham Monday

A local man received a possible scam phone call Monday.

The caller said they were with PCH, but never said Publishers Clearing House. They instead asked the person called if they knew who that was, and they did.

The caller then told the resident they had won several items, including cash, but the resident had to send 1% of the total value of the winnings via an Amazon gift card. When the resident began laughing, the caller hung up.

If you get the same sort of call, you should hang up, too.
