3,137 New Cases of Coronavirus Disease Announced Friday

As testing climbs in Illinois, so does the number of positive cases of coronavirus.

More than 14,000 tests were administered during the most recent 24-hour period. That resulted in 3,137 new positive cases, the highest one-day total ever.

105 additional deaths were reported for the period.

69 of those deaths were in Cook County.

There were 11 deaths in DuPage County and seven deaths in Will County.

There were no deaths reported in area counties.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 56,055 cases, including 2,457 deaths in 97 counties in Illinois. 

As of yesterday, 4,953 Illinois residents were hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those, 1,289 patients were in ICU, and 785 were on ventilators.
