Effingham Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan Monday released information on paper packet drop off plans. Here's his letter:

In consultation with Effingham County Health Department, the following plan will be used to collect paper packets through the end of the 2019-20 school year in Unit #40. This plan will be utilized for grades 6-12 only. The school district will continue to evaluate and make adjustments as needed.

The District wishes to stress that there are other, more timely methods to return student work. The District asks that everyone attempt the other avenues listed below prior to dropping off paper packets.

  1. Turn in work online through Google Classroom, email, etc. This is a quick and easy way to make sure work gets to the teacher.
  2. Take a photo of the work with a phone and email it to the teacher. Again, this is a quick and safe way to make sure your student’s efforts are accounted for during Remote Learning.
  3. As a last resort, EJHS and EHS completed paper packets may be turned in at any of the lunch distribution locations (for grades 6-12) from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Monday, May 4th

Monday, May 18th

Tuesday, May 26th

  1. IMPORTANT - Please have student place their first and last name in each paper as well as their teacher’s name. This will help in getting the papers back to the teachers and teachers knowing who the packet is from.

This is an extraordinary situation and we ask for your cooperation and understanding. We ask that you please take care of yourself and be vigilant. Thank you.

Mark E. Doan, Superintendent

Effingham Unit #40
