State Crop Report for Week Ending April 19th

There were 4.1 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois during the week ending April 19.

Statewide, the average temperature was 40.5 degrees, 13 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.59 inches, 0.36 inches below normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 1% very short, 5% short, 84% adequate, and 10% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 4% short, 87% adequate, and 9% surplus.

Corn planted statewide reached 8%, compared to the five-year average of 11%. Soybeans planted reached 2%.

Winter wheat headed was at 2%, compared to the five-year average of 4%. Winter wheat condition was rated 4% very poor, 5% poor, 23% fair, 47% good, and 21% excellent.
