A local man received a three-year prison sentence Wednesday for aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police.

31-year-old Damian Ely of Effingham was sentenced for traveling at a high rate of speed on US Route 40 at the Dieterich-Montrose Blacktop in Montrose last October 25.

Effingham County Assistant State's Attorney Rob Scales said Ely still faces other unrelated charges. Ely will face one year mandatory supervised release once he is released from prison.
