A Friday morning collision resulted in injuries to two people and a small fire in one of the vehicles involved.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies report the collision occurred at 6:40am on Moccasin Road, just east of 700th Street.  Deputies say a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Joy McAllister of Altamont slid sideways on the roadway and was struck by a vehicle driven by 70-year-old Eric Johnson of Effingham.

McAllister and Johnson were injured and were taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  McAllister was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

Shumway Fire Protection District firefighters were called to the scene when a fire occurred in the McAllister vehicle.  Deputies say those on scene used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
