Altamont school board members got a report this week on the Staff Parade, held to honor the faculty and staff members for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Superintendent Steve Mayerhofer reported over 40 cars were in the procession behind an Altamont fire engine. Kristi Lange and Brenda Hammer, who are retiring at the end of this year, rode on the fire truck. Students, families and retired staff members cheered on the parade participants.

Congratulations were offered students Mason Cielak, who has been recommended to receive his State FFA Degree, and Hannah Tappendorf, who has been recommended to receive the American Farmer Degree.

In other business, the Altamont board approved registration fees for the coming school year; agreed to renew a two-year IESA agreement to co-op in junior high girls basketball with Altamont Lutheran Interparish School; employed Doug Culver as a crossing guard; and approved the resignation of Laura Smith as dance coach.
