Doris Reynolds of Mattoon has been re-elected chairman of the Lake Land College Board of Trustees.

Mattoon's Mike Sullivan was re-elected vice-chairman, and Gary Cadwell of Mode was again chosen board secretary.

Each was elected for a one-year term in their office.

The Lake Land Board approved a three-year contract agreement with the Lake Land College Faculty Association, starting July 1. The agreement covers 120 fulltime faculty members, and reflects an average 2% salary increase over the three years. The faculty union ratified the agreement on April 9.

The Board also certified the sophomore student government election results. We had shared earlier that Lucas Duduit of Pana was elected Student Trustee on the board. Among those elected to the student government association was Caralee Hayes of Effingham, a Business Administration major.

Board members renewed insurance coverage, and awarded a bid to repair, resurface and repaint the gym floor in the Laker Field House. Also approved was an additional six Talented Student Awards for spring sports since those seasons were not contested this year due to the pandemic. The awards cover baseball and softball.

Trustees also took note of four students nominated and recognized as members of the Phi Theta Kappa All-Illinois Academic Team, including Ryan Radloff of Dieterich. Special recognition was given Tanner Clark of Strasburg, who was selected as a Gold Scholar on Coca-Cola's 2020 Academic Team. Only 50 students from across the country received the designation, and Clark is the first Lake Land student to be designated a Gold Scholar. 2,000 applications were received this year. Clark will be recognized at the Phi Theta Kappa Catalyst Annual Convention.
