A local man was arrested over the weekend on a series of burglary charges.

Effingham city police arrested 25-year-old Jacob D. Beck of Effingham on a burglary count, as well as five counts of burglary to a motor vehicle. Beck was also arrested on a charge of possession of stolen property, two counts of criminal damage to property, and obstructing or resisting a peace officer.

Police report they were contacted by someone who spotted someone inside their vehicle. Assistant Chief Kurt Davis said the resident gave a detailed description as to what the suspect was wearing and authorities used a K9 to track down Beck. Davis said Beck is accused of burglarizing multiple vehicles in multiple locations.
